Car Cabin Acoustics – Broadband Impulse Response

Application ID: 138911

This tutorial shows how to model car cabin acoustics using a low frequency FEM solution concatenated with a high frequency ray solution. The source is a tweeter located in the dashboard corner, which is modeled as a lumped loudspeaker coupled to an electric circuit. To accurately include realistic (near-field) effects of the source for ray propagation, a FEM based sub-model of the speaker and its immediate surroundings is used along with the Release from Pressure Field feature. The broadband impulse response is computed for a microphone located near the driver’s head location.
