When devices have geometric details comparable to the thermal and viscous boundary layers, thermoviscous losses become important. This typically occurs at the millimeter and submillimeter length scale, thus the name: microacoustics. Common applications where the effects are important include microspeakers, smartphones, hearing aids, MEMS components, microphones, perforates, meshes, and more.

In this webinar, we will discuss how to model microacoustics using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. There will be a live demonstration of the analysis of a hearing aid subsystem, where we will show you how to characterize its transfer impedance. We will conclude the event with a Q&A session.
