The Structural Mechanics Module, an add-on to the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, enables engineers to perform advanced analyses of solids, beams, shells, trusses, and other configurations using nonlinear materials. These analyses can be performed in a stationary setting or combined with frequency-domain and time-domain studies.

In this webinar, we will provide an overview of using the Optimization Module with structural analysis, showing how functionality from both modules can be used in combination. We will cover derivative-free and gradient-based optimization techniques, with particular emphasis on the latter. The examples will highlight creating custom objectives and the tools for shape and topology optimization. We will also discuss parameter estimation, eigenfrequency maximization, and time-dependent optimization in the context of structural mechanics.

All demonstrated functionality is accessed through a graphical user interface.
