Meshing Your Models in COMSOL Multiphysics®
Efficiently solving complex models relies on a well-resolved mesh. The COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software includes functionality for automatic and manual mesh generation as well as options for importing meshes generated elsewhere. With automatic physics-based meshing, the mesh type and size are adapted to the studied physics phenomena. To make sure that a high-quality mesh can be generated, the geometric model is automatically analyzed for very small details (for example, short edges and slivers), which could result in very dense mesh or low-quality elements. Such details can automatically be removed in a transparent process with editable steps. For more advanced meshing needs, manual mesh setup enables precise control over the mesh element size and distribution.
During this webinar, we will give an overview of the meshing functionality and demonstrate it live in the software. We will introduce various mesh operations and show how to set up mesh element sizing to control the number and distribution of elements on geometric entities. This includes modifying the mesh size settings as well as using size expressions that incorporate parameters, spatial coordinates, and variables from previous solutions.
